Review:
The E21 BMW 316 is a cool-looking retro machine.
Everywhere I drove it people would turn their heads at the Seventies-styled German coupe.
But the car had its faults. It’s a heavy motor,
using a paltry 1.8-litre engine meaning it’s not all that quick.
It’s more of a car to cruise in than thrash around.
While it’s not quick, it’s not economical either,
returning around 30mpg. It rusted,
only had four gears and there was no rev counter.
But none of this mattered because it was a genuinely cool-looking car.
