Pros:

This car has the look and feel and speed of a sports car with the storage space of a hatchback and enough room in the back to be used as a small family car. Comfortable to drive and fitted with a full set of electrics inc, windows, mirrors, abs, traction control, heated seats, motorized seat adjustment, cd changer, trip computer and a display to let you know everything from wear on the brake pads, to cold temperature warning lights. Sleek looking and still a head turner.

Cons:

A manufacturers fault on the air intake system has led some cars, including mine to be refitted with another unit. I heard that ford is in the know about this and affectionally calls the noise this fault makes as the \'moose call\' It would be worth mentioning if you plan to buy a second hand Cougar. Also, my cougar was recalled to have something changed on the battery leads, another point to ask about. A new clutch at 120,000miles doesnt seem to be asking much but it will set you back over 500 pounds, and thats not at a dealer.

Comments:

On the whole still a cracking car to drive. Parts are relatively cheap being a ford. A full set of pads and the front and rear discs themselves came to less than 200 quid and easily fitted by yourself if you wish. I wouldnt part with mine. Its a 99 model and has never left me stranded or failed to start in the 5 years that i have owned it. At 120,000 miles it has never failed an mot. That in itself says something about this car. Go and get one, definately flash.
