Pros:
Quick of the mark, flexible engine with loads of torque, a real pleasure to drive, practicle, reliable, still a head turner at 15 years old! Almost free motoring as they have reached a piont where they are starting to go up in value
Cons:
A bit noisy and not much else realy as long as its a well maintained unmolested one. Be nice if it had A/C in the summer.
Comments:
This is 3rd MK2 GTI 8v and its probaly the best one too. A real testement to the previuos owner who maintained it very well indeed. I have had modern cars including Audi's and keep finding myself going back to my trusty old Golf's, mainly because it don't sit on the drive loosing thousands of pounds every year. It drives and handles extremley well and cruises at 90mph all day long with out a problem. Its practicle too, I have a 5 year old and a small baby and theres room for the every day stuff, I just use a roof box to go on holiday with. From 1990 onwards the car was blessed with electric windows and power steering which I think is a must in this day and age.
I keep mine well serviced and it never lets me down, I keep it nice and clean and it often gains many admiring glances and comments, something you very rarely get with one of the thousands of modern cars on todays roads.
All in all not quite perfect but still a brilliant little car. Go on, go hunting for a good one.... you won't regret it
