LEXUS GS
SALOON (2005 - )
300 3.0 SE 4dr Auto
Review
Stimpus, South West
Pros:
Quick, reliable, and nowhere near as expensive to run as the press would have you believe. So elegant that Jaguar copied it.
Cons:
Can be tiring to drive on the open road. Hopeless dipped-beam headlights. The tedium of listening to inverted snobs.
Comments:
Recently departed after 2 years and 35,000 miles, my GS was a surprising car. Sometimes a little disappointing where a Lexus should excel (ride, seats and rattles) but unexpectedly good in others (startlingly rapid, chuckable, able to top 30mpg and, perhaps due to the soothing voice of the sat nav, it even had personality).
But what rather spoiled the car for me was its reluctance to track in a straight line. Ruts too often tugged the car off course (a problem magnified by the inability of the steering to allow quick or fine adjustments). This made what should have been an easy to drive car hard work at times. I do miss it though.
